Announced the fully electric iX SUV from BMW. Promising a WLTP range of about 375 miles (i.e. at least 350 miles EPA) and 0-100 km / h in under 5 seconds, this vehicle appears to be a viable competitor for the Tesla Model X. Could this vehicle, which is expected to be on the road at the end of 2021, be BMW's Challenge to Tesla? Who gets ahead in this competition?
BMW iX SUV, electric motors shown as front and rear in the interior diagram will provide over 500hp. The battery will have more than 100kWh capacity, which is just right to deliver the expected range. In cases where the Audi e-tron and Mercedes EQC cannot reach even 200 miles on a single charge, the iX will offer 400 miles in proximity, raising it above the Tesla Model X Long Range Plus (348 miles WLTP, 371 miles EPA). The latter can reach 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, so the speed of the iX from 5 seconds to 62 mph makes the same statement.
One of the biggest concerns people have about Tesla's cars, along with concerns about build quality, is the understated interior design. However, the BMW iX offers a futuristic approach in this regard.
